LMHS Band Boosters

We are lucky to have a very supportive and organized team of parent/guardian volunteers working hard to support the mission of the Louisville Male High School Band program. The tradition and pride of being a LMHS Band Parent is evident in every event we host and provide support for. Without this dedicated team of hardworking volunteers the students in the band program could not achieve the level of outstanding performance we have become known for or have the lifechanging experiences we, as an organization, provide.

It is a team effort, with Staff, Parent Boosters, and Administrators working collaboratively to provide the best experience possible for the students.

Parental involvement is crucial to your child’s success in school and in band. This program offers a unique opportunity for parents and their children to work together. There is a brief description of each committee in the column to the right. If you are interested, or have questions, please contact any band officer listed in your handbook.

A Message from your Band Booster President:

Greetings new member families and those returning, The Louisville Male High School Band Booster Association is a group of parents, guardians, grandparents and community members dedicated to supporting the efforts of the band directors as they endeavor to provide students with a quality music education.

Our mission is to promote excellence in education through support of an outstanding instrumental music program. We believe that a great band program develops the physical, mental, and spiritual gifts of our students. The discipline learned and the work habits rehearsed serve the band members throughout their lives.

The LMHS Band Booster Association works year round to support Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Color Guard, Drumline, and Marching Band. We conduct various fundraising activities and provide numerous support services for the band. Throughout the year we need volunteer assistance with the Louisville Male Classic Competition, the concession stand during home football, baseball, and basketball games, Jubilee Concert and the annual band banquet. During marching band season there is a need for volunteers to chaperone competitions, work on the pit crew, and help with band camp.

Band is a “team sport”, it teaches you to work with other people. You as the individual are not the most important detail, but your work with others to reach one common goal. Each member is an important part, but the whole idea is about the success of the ensemble rather than the success of the individual. These music activities not only encourage teamwork, but also create lifelong friendships and allow for working with many different kinds of people. Band becomes more than a class or an organization: Band is a family.

Sincerely,

Dan Dorris

LMHS Band Booster President
